Beautés Oranges

Gardening has always been a favourite past-time. As a child, I can remember spending every morning, noon, and night out in our garden planting flowers and tending to our vegetable garden. I always anticipated the evening, when my brother and I were able to pick our favourite vegetables and then watch our mum craft them into a delicious dinner.

I am counting down the days until I can begin gardening my favourite plants...tulips, sunflowers, pansies, snapdragons, lilies, cosmos...and vegetables...green beans, beets, brussel sprouts...

In the meantime, I decided to pick myself up a dozen of these orange beauties. They remind me not only of the richness of our gardens, but of the richness of my wonderful childhood.

What beauties! They make me anxious for spring. I'm always excited to see the first blades of green grass and the little wild flowers poking their way up through the early spring ground.

The kiss of the sun for pardon
The songs of the birds for mirth
There is no place closer to Heaven
Than a garden here on Earth.
Blessings my lovely friend.
I love to garden as well.

You tickle the earth with a hoe
and up pops beauty and abundance!

Dear French Nest,
I thought of you last night.
I am working on my seed orders. Carefully I go through the catalogs and mark what I will be ordering. I check my notes from last year and the seeds I was able to save. In Pinetree Garden Seeds they have many French varieties of lettuce. They also have a book for sale, "The Edible French Garden".
I have a growing bed, "The French Lilac Bed" that will receive all sorts of French lettuces for Spring and Summer and Fall growing and eating! All part of the edible landscape.
I too must have blooms about all the time. Your orange roses are lovely. The remembering of childhood gardening is delightful. Thank you!
The Earth is resting, gathering moisture, Spring will come soon.
