Un Bon Oeuf

Mum and I went thrifting this afternoon, and found everything we were looking for...and then some! I shied away from my usual shabby chic colour scheme - pink and white - and was inspired to create this Easter basket using all of my mum's favourite colours - taupe, greens, robin egg blue and rich browns.
I found the perfect basket, with six compartments - enough to hold seashells, vintage lace, a nesting bird, a hand stand and antique sheet music, as well as my organza bags filled with hand-painted speckled eggs. I finished each bag with a homemade tag.
I also found another antique printer's tray - perfect to hold stamps and small collectibles!
I'll post that tomorrow...

Faites un Souhait...

I pulled this frame out of a box lot I had snagged at an auction last summer, and thought my Martha Stewart starburst paper would look fabulous with the gold frame.

All it took was some Papyrus glitter paper, a few seals, metal embellishments and a black and white image...complete with crowns! Because what's a Queen without her crown?

The chandelier I picked up at a garage sale makes the perfect stand!

Speaking of Papyrus, you have to stop off at their website - the Easter collection is out, and you all know what that means...adorable Peter Rabbit gift wrap, decorative speckled Robin's eggs, and vintage-inspired stationery! Ohh la la!

Conseil D'Inspiration

I spent early this morning working on an inspiration board. Ironically enough, most of the pictures I found from my magazines are pictures featured from Corey Amaro's beautiful home in France, and Rachel Ashwell's fabulously-chic home in California. I love the muted tones, the antiques, the retro/kitschy furniture and the French-chic theme throughout their homes.
It is the epitome of my "dream" home...

Happy (Belated) Valentine's Day

I found this cute Valentine's Day card on Paper Relics, and had to post it.

Yesterday, I made homemade Valentine cards and cherry-chip cupcakes for my co-workers, complete with silver paper cups, pink icing and pink and red sprinkles. When I came home from work, mum had red carnations, conversation hearts, cinnamon hearts, a box of Lindt chocolates and caramel filled Hershey's kisses waiting for me.

I hope you all had a great Valentine's filled with sweets, pink and red goodies, and lots of fun!

Cintres De Dressage Français

I was organizing the basement this afternoon, and came across these vintage wooden coat hangers. I have no idea where they came from, or how they ended up in the basement, but I decided to save the cleaning up for another day and get down to some real business - crafting!
I grabbed my basket of ribbon and some stamps, and went for a chic French theme.
They add a certain je ne sais pas, oui?

Mafia De Cachemire

My new favourite show....
"Cashmere Mafia"
The show revolves around the lives of four Manhattan friends (who also happen to be high-powered execs), who turn to each other for support, guidance and friendship.
If you loved "Sex and the City" then you will love this show.
Have any of you ladies seen it?

Nuit De Filles Dedans

Last Friday I had the girls over for a "girls night in" to celebrate my birthday. Because of school/work and other commitments, this past weekend was the only time any of us could get together to see each other and catch up. BUT, we also had a huge storm that hit us that same day...Luckily though, almost everyone was able to make it. I had won a spa package a few months ago, and one of the reps came over to pamper all of us, while we indulged in some delights! The menu included cheesecake, fruit tarts, mini cheese and brocolli quiche, a vegetable tray and spanikopita.
We had hand-softening treatments, foot soaks, a mini-makeover and we got to sample all of the fabulous organic and vegan-friendly products from the cosmetics line...body butters, aromatherapy oils, lip gloss...you name it, we tried it!
I would have taken more pictures of the delicious appetizers (and the makeover process!), but not only did the girls practically take me down as soon as the cheesecake went on the table, we all looked like drag queens at the end of the night from having tried on so much makeup.
We had a great night and enjoyed great food, then went to a club downtown for martinis and dancing! What a way to celebrate!
